Joan of Arc Academy

Marketing
a hidden gem

Joan of Arc Academy is a fully bilingual, all-girls’ school. It was established in 1954 to provide high-quality education for students in kindergarten to grade 8. We came on board to help unearth its full potential and increase enrollment at the school.

Culture
comes first

In analyzing the school’s assets, we encountered outdated branding that didn’t capture the overall tone or level of academic excellence. We implemented brand guidelines to set a consistent font, typography and logo. The result is a look and feel that remains familiar to students, alumni and parents, while boosting awareness of Joan of Arc’s place in Ottawa’s educational community.

One of Joan of Arc’s key strengths is its vibrant culture. The school is clearly professional but never elitist, relaxed yet respectful. We saw particular value in showing this differentiation in a day-in-the-life video that presents the Joan of Arc experience from a student’s point of view.

Show the school’s strengths.

Created in both official languages, the video showcases the bilingualism of the school and its students. It also gives prospective parents a sense of what makes the Academy so special.

“Stiff was such a huge help to us. In every stage of work, they were hands-on, strategic, creative and highly responsive. Thanks to them our brand is cohesive, modern and beautiful. It was a pleasure to work with the Stiff team.”

New medium, same opportunity

In our second year working with the Academy, we fully redesigned its website. Our goal was to convey the school’s warm and welcoming atmosphere. What makes the Academy special isn’t its hallways or science lab, it’s the community of people who call the school home. The new website is highly visual, filled with photos we took to capture the interactions of students and teachers.

Showcasing the school’s strengths and the students’ skills

In support of the new website and the montage video, we also created two interview-style videos. In one, students talk revealingly about what they hope to be when they grow up. In the other video, students tell viewers what they like most about Joan of Arc Academy. Each video was created in French and English to highlight the importance of bilingualism at the school.
